Yesterday I went to Dallas Comic Con. Though this was my first venture to a large-scale artistic convention, the experience was less than I had expected. Granted, there were a good number of talented artists showcasing their work, however most work centered around established lineages such as DC and Marvel characters, Star Wars and Star Trek. Also popular themes like zombie invasions. I was hoping to see a lot more original works but that number was quite small. There were some celebrity expositions, professional lectures, and advanced memorabilia collections. Not to mention a good number of cosplayers as well, mostly DC superhero/powerrangers/starwars/startrek characters. Some were fit and pretty (one catwoman was stunning), but most were fat or nerdy and disgusting otaku dweebs.
The the smell of body odor and popcorn was overwhelming!
I didn't stay long, just long enough to scan over all the tables and conference rooms.
Cost me $30 for a one-day visit, I wanted my money back.
