My time has come. I am leaving the Raccoons fandom.

I have done everything in my power to push this cartoon out of obscurity and into a positive direction. To put Kevin Gillis's Raccoons in the best light possible. I have given enough of my time doing so.

Those of you who have been following my work, and know where I am coming from. I want to thank you with utmost sincerity. The ride has been an exhilarating one, and I have enjoyed a rich environment full of supporting and brilliant fellow fans. I chose the Raccoons because I found it a very appealing show, great quality in animation and content, all from a very special era. All I wanted was to showcase those qualities to an audience who know exactly what those are.

I had my stories, my one off pics. I had an agenda to spearhead this fandom to the rightful universe in which it belonged, and I believe I can truthfully say that I have accomplished this task. I am satisfied with what I have done here.

My work here is mostly done. There may be a few things to wrap up.

Many thanks to everyone who supported me all this time! Best wishes to those who are willing to still contribute to this fandom! you will have my support!

--

A fandom is a social network, and the quality of that fandom depends entirely on the quality of the network of those contributing to it.

Those of you who want to take this show in another direction, other than the one it is supposed to go, you have no one to blame but yourselves for how things turned out.

Sorry that you're leaving. You've drawn a lot of good Raccoons pictures and had you not drawn Lisa and Sophia as Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mars, I wouldn't have thought of Annie as Chibi-Moon and Melissa as Sailor Mercury. I also wouldn't have used that to tie in to Split-Kit's Revengers pics.

I hope I didn't drive you from the Raccoons fandom.

You've been a big inspiration to tons of Raccoons fans and it's sad to see you leave the fandom :sniff:, but I wish you the best and I hope your success continues to blossom  godspeed and good luck. ;)

Where does the moderator stand on this issue? This cat and mouse game is really getting old. With comments and replies by some people on this site, you get what you deserve. Take care my friend!

To Coonfan:
Just so we're absolutely clear on one thing - I have nothing but contempt for you. :)

The day you showed up in this fandom I was wary of you. Your first requests and comments showed a specific interest in "physical affection" towards certain underage characters. Others also had a more sexually suggestive angle involving Annie and Bentley. Also And as the co-creator of Procyon Delta I found this comment [link] to be pushing the limits. Did you really expect us to indulge you? Do you still believe that you are victim of a bunch of asshole artists? :) Since you were blocked you've done nothing but cry, moan and try to gain some sympathy from anyone who would listen. Well I guess it's worked in some way because your plight has won you a few friends. FYI when you complained to Fred that I was the one that called you a "dummy" it was actually your pal Greeneyedgirl who said called you that :D (please take note of who posts comments before you jump to conclusions)

You are entitled to your own tastes. Just as a group of us are entitled to our own tastes which as it just so happens does NOT include yours. These "tastes" and the annoying and persistent ways which people like you and Cyberfox have thrown them in the face of the fandom is what has caused this split. Nothing else. KrDoz had the decency to unblock you in order to clear the air and make some peace as he leaves the fandom and yet here you are taking a cheap shot in defence of your "tastes". You clearly have no intention to leave things in peace and let others move on in this fandom in the manner which THEY choose. With people like you this community is doomed and deserves to disappear into internet obscurity.

Take your tastes and shove them up your ass.

That comment made me lose some faith in the human race :( It makes me almost hope Judgement Day really WILL come on December 21st. If that happens, I know I'll be going to hell, but I'm sure you and I will probably be there as well, as well as probably the majority of us, so there'd probably be a big party in hell :D

Seriously, though, I remember seeing him say on one of his comments that he was almost 40 years old (he said he was 36 or 37, I can't remember which). You'd think if he were almost 40 he'd have at least SOME maturity in his responses. Yet he's reacting with all the maturity of a 10 year old boy throwing a temper tantrum because everything isn't like he says it is. Any response of "F*** you!" or "You asshole!" or "You're the biggest dickface I've seen on the Internet! Go burn in hell!" merely proves my point.

I'm still willing to write my next story, but not if I'm going to have someone like him possibly commenting on them saying something to the effect "F*** you and your f***ing story! Stick them all up your ass! You are a big f***ing asshole and your stories piss me the f*** off! Go burn in hell!" The only thing that would be worse than that is some spam-bot reviewing my stories by giving ads for penis pills.

Granted, technically you can write or draw the Raccoons in any way you wish as none of us own the rights. If Kevin Gillis really wanted to, he could sue the pants off of us and personally see to it that we all end up in rags. (Not that I think that WOULD happen, but if he wanted to, he probably could do that.) But I think it's sad to think that some other people out there who might have seen the show and have a serious interest in it like you and me and are thinking about drawing art or writing serious stories might come across the fandom on here, see nothing but fetishy, bizarre art, and decide "Okay, screw it. Not the kind of fandom I want to be a part of."

What exactly do you mean by the last paragraph in your journal entry? Are you saying that everyone has to write and draw like you? People are entitled to their own Raccoons tastes.

You're absolutely right, you can write or draw the Raccoons in any form you want, it's not our intellectual property to begin with.

Just saying if you want to show real homage to the Raccoons then treat them with some dignity and respect, and that goes for the fanbase as well. You would do well not to talk poorly about other folks on here.

I do treat the Raccoons with dignity and respect, as well as the fanbase. I have been a fan of this cartoon since 1983, even longer than you have. You seem to think I have a bad attitude, which I don't. It's artists like you and Slayer-One who have the bad attitude.

This is the last time I communicate with you. Consider yourself blocked!

Sad to hear you've had enough, I don't really draw many Raccoons themed pictures and barely watch the show any more. But still, I consider myself a fan of the show ^^.

...It's a shame to hear that, but I can understand why you would make this decision. Seeing some of the...unusual people in this fandom has sort of pushed me towards my limits as well. I probably wouldn't have a problem if these odd requests, stories, and artworks were only coming up occasionally or so, but when it seems like half the stuff contributed by the fandom is of this nature and more than half the fandom is into the show for this...it's hard for me to take as well. I respect your decision, but it will be sad to see you leave, as I'll really miss seeing your artwork.

As for me...I suppose technically you could say I AM guilty of taking this show in directions it was never meant to go (I'm pretty well aware Ralph and Melissa would have never had a child on the show, plus I decidedly know Bert and the gang would never have been placed in some of the more adultish situations I put them in seeing as it's a children's show), but I don't think I warped the characters or did anything astoundingly ****ed up in writing those stories. I thought I did a great job handling placing the characters in more mature, adult situations. I think it makes them feel more lifelike, like if they weren't anthromorphs they could be someone you've met in real life. It works a lot better than Bert suddenly becoming five years old for no conceivable reason whatsoever.

I'm just hoping you leaving won't be the start of a trend of every halfway decent or better Raccoons writer or artist deciding to jump ship on the fandom, because I really, REALLY don't want to end up in a situation where I'm the last serious Raccoons writer/artist left surrounded by a sea of fetishists. It would not be fun to be the last one left behind on a sinking ship as the sea closes around you...

As much as I hate to leave the Raccoons, I feel it is best for me to take my leave, as there are a few forming a coalition against me and my close friends. If you intend to stay, and I hope you do, I a confident that you will do what is best to preserve the spirit of this show, as a proper fanartist/fanauthor should do.

Your stories took the Raccoons in the right direction! Your creative license was a great positive for the community! I hope you continue to write more works, as I see great potential in you! Best wishes!

When I first joined the fandom, yours was the art that stood out the most. In every pic, no matter what the subject matter you always captured a certain essence of the show (something I could never do). It's been an honour to work with a like-minded artist and I am blown away by the fruits of our collaborations. I wish we could've finished what we started but at the same time I'm glad with what we have completed. Either way you know I support your decision 100%. You're doing the right thing.

It's sad to hear that you're leaving the fandom, though I totally understand why you wish to leave. You're an excellent artist and a good friend, and I hope to see more art from you soon, hopefully from a show that has a fandom with some common sense.
